Wainsford is positioned 5-miles from the tide, and given reasonable water volume is a favourite holding reach for Sea Trout and Salmon fresh from the sea. The Fowey has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the best Sea Trout rivers in the UK.
A true moorland river, the Fowey rises near Brown Willy on Bodmin, and the highest point in Cornwall. It flows for 30 miles to the sea at Fowey and is little influenced by agricultural or industrial activity. Characteristically gin clear, it provides a real challenge to the fly fisherman.

Wainsford enjoys some 1.45km of mixed single and dual bank Salmon and Sea Trout fishing, predominantly on the River Fowey. We’ve organised this into 3 beats, and aim to limit each beat to 2 rods at any one time. Where the rods fishing are from different parties, a daily rota will be employed.
The terms left bank and right bank adopted below are relative to an observer looking downstream.
The extent of Fishing we offer is as follows;
1.35km of River Fowey – Beats A to C (1 to 3)
100m of River Warleggan
